Teriyaki Steak over Broccoli and Cauliflower Rice

Hello Hello!!!  I hope that you all had a fantastic weekend! It was a little on the dreary side this weekend. I really hate that since it is not great picture weather! But it is all good. We are just going to have to make the best of it. Luckily I have a back log of fantastic recipes that need to get up on this amazing websites! I made this fantastic Teriyaki Steak over Broccoli and Cauliflower Rice recipe last week while the Super Bowl was going on. I made it in a couple of steps. The prep work sometimes it what can make a recipe super quick. A few minutes in the morning can make dinner time that much more relaxing especially after a hard day at the office.

This is all you need for this recipe:

  1. 2 grass fed beef filets
  2. coconut aminos or teriyaki sauce
  3. salt and pepper
  4. 1 small cauliflower head
  5. 1 broccoli bunch
  6. 1 tablespoon garlic
  7. 1/2 each yellow onion, diced
  8. olive oil or oil of choice

Salt and pepper the filets and place them in a small bowl. Stab the filets with a fork a couple of times on each side. Pour some teriyaki sauce or coconut aminos over the filets. Flip them over a couple of time so that the filets become well coated.

Place a lid on the bowl and place in the fridge. Those can sit in the fridge all day long. This is a good thing to just do in the morning and by the time that you will get home it will be ready.

Next, get out a small food processor. Break down the broccoli and cauliflower and place in the food processor. Pulse the processor until it is a rice consistency.

Please in a large bowl and mix the cauliflower and broccoli “rice” together.

In a large saute pan, drizzle some olive oil. Add in the minced garlic.

Dice a half of a white onion. Toss into the saute pan with the garlic. Cook down on medium heat until a bit soft.

Add in the broccoli and cauliflower rice into the saute pan. Let cook over medium heat until heated through. It will be about 10 minutes or so. It all depends on how much broccoli and cauliflower that you are cooking up.

If you do not let it marinate during the day and you are doing this all at one time, let the filets marinate at least half hour or so.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Place a skillet or cast iron with a drizzle or two of olive oil. I have a cast iron type grill skillet. I have no idea what you all it, but it is pretty cool.

Place the filet’s in the hot pan and cook for about 6 minutes on each side to give it a good sear. You are going to want to watch them. My filets were pretty thick. You don’t want to cook them through all of the way as you are going to finish these in the oven.

When they have a good sear on each side, place the whole cast iron skillet or saute pan into the oven to finish off. I placed mine in the oven for about 10 minutes or so because look at how thick this delicious steak was! I also like my steak on the rare side. If you are looking for something more well done then I would let cook in the oven a bit longer.

Place the steak on top of the broccoli and cauliflower rice. And there you have it! A very healthy Teriyaki Steak over Broccoli and Cauliflower Rice. You may have some extra broccoli and cauliflower rice left over. Thats OK though. You can use it for something or freeze it for next time.
